According to Webster Dictionary, a
book is defined to be “a written or
printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and
bound in covers.” Sounds too old fashion for your
liking? Well, luckily the internet age come along. Listening to audio books
gives you the full experience. Are you not convinced yet? Here’s
10 reasons why you should jump on the trend.
1. A
voice or storytelling can reveal increasingly more content than purely print, emphasising sarcasm, drama and emotions for example.
2. Listening
comprehension surpasses reading, principally for the younger generation.
3. When
listening to an audio book every single word is orally pronounced and vocalised.
The pronunciation is not just voiced in your head when reading print, but the “storyteller” give
voice to the words first. This may also lead to an expansion of one’s
vocabulary.
4. Let’s
be honest, the reasons why most people do not read books are perhaps due to
laziness, perhaps even stress and being too busy. However, treat the audio book
as a piece of music. A huge majority of pendants listen to music, but in theory audio
books should be treated the exact same. It’s
highly accessible on the go and extremely convenient. Now there’s
really no excuse to not pick up a book, or well an audio book that is.
5. Audio
books can accompany you anywhere you go, car rides, school, activities such as
fitness and whilst running errands. Perhaps, even whilst cleaning and doing
chores.
6. Listening
to audio books is actually like listening to a play within any images. However,
the narrator acts out all the scenes, allowing you to individually create your
own images in your head.
7. Are
you guilty of skim-reading? Perhaps, you should give audio books a go then. The
narrator gives you every little detail, leaving absolutely nothing out assuring
you get the entire story. Also, it might make you a better listener, too!
8. The
rise of audio books have caused a huge increase in number of books read by
kids, teenagers and audits. Even if you listen to one book a week, you’ll
at least have 4 books by the end of the month.
9. Most
importantly, audio books are MUCH greener than print books. So if you wish and
want to save trees? Choose audio books.
10. Audio
books is a great advantage to readers with poor eyesight or eyestrain.
